intraVnews Roadmap

RSS is moving forward at a rapid pace. At FutureGlue, we are excited that this technology is now finally becoming mainstream!

We're currently testing our first Podcasting support features and you should see it appear in our intraVnews for Outlook version soon.

Our desktop RSS engine is now being used in thousands of locations worldwide by people who live in Outlook. Our engine complies with all RSS and Atom and HTTP standards and implements all popular bandwidth saving measures.

On the desktop, the intraVnews engine outperforms NewsGator's Outlook Edition and Attensa RSS Reader for Outlook. You can easily subscribe to up to 5000 feeds simultaneously with intraVnews and use Outlook 2003's search folders for filtering.

A standalone version of intraVnews will be available later this year with additional support for filtering and new RSS extensions.

Peter.

More fixes and improvements! Download Beta 3 here:

While we're working on entirely new versions, we continue to make version 1.12 as reliable as possible. Please keep telling us when you run into anything unexpected.

Many people have asked us about podcasting. We are planning support for enclosures in version 1.2. We'd love to hear which specific podcasting features you'd like to see in intraVnews. Let us know!

Peter Bruinsma.

New intraVnews releases

Hi!

Two announcements:

intraVnews 1.12 is now Beta 2. Get it here: www.intravnews.com/download.aspx. There are quite a number of significant improvements in this edition and we want to make sure this will be our best release yet! See www.intravnews.com/changes.aspx for what has changed.

The original 1.1 release has been replaced with version 1.11.
It is important that everyone upgrades to 1.11 because it fixes two significant problems:
1. Valid license could expire with 1.1. thereby deactivating the product.
2. 1.11 Contains improvements in the way updates are checked, which improves performance as well as bandwidth use.

Remember: always export your subscriptions to OPML before installing updates!

Peter.

What's happening?

Recently, someone in the forums asked what is happening with intraVnews, since there haven't been any updates since Q4 of last year.

We continue work on intraVnews every day!

Since the 1.1 release, we have been very busy developing version 2.0. It's too early to divulge information about all the greatness of 2.0 right now ;)

After 1.1, we released version 1.11 to address some bandwidth issues. It turned out we did not implement a few things correctly and we responded quickly with this update.

Version 1.12 was released simultaneously to address an issue with duplicate items. There are still some issues and we are working on them.

In the mean time, we've been fixing some bugs and are collecting feedback. We expect to publish a new release of 1.12 anytime. This release will also add support for RSS 1.1 and Feed IM (RFC3229).

Translation into various languages is now starting, beginning with French, German, Dutch and Swedish.

There is also a new project on the front burner. We're just weeks away from some kind of announcement.

Thanks for everyone's feedback. Please keep it coming!

Peter.

intraVnews forum RSS feeds are back

Upgrading our phpBB forums to SQL Server 2000 turned out to be a less than trivial exercise and we've decided to postpone this.

Instead, we've fixed the feeds. They're now served as static xml files that are refreshed once every 15 minutes. The TTL is set at 60 minutes for now, until we're comfortable with the load again. This means you will see updates once an hour, unless you do a manual refresh.
We've also fixed some issues that were caused by the phpBB RSS mod. Now the pubDate is correct and all feeds have a distinct title.

Main feeds:
Announcements:
Last 15 posts:
(RSS readers that support redirection will automatically be redirected to these feeds)

New feeds:
These are finer grained feeds:
Bug reports:
Tech Support:
FAQ:
KnowledgeBase:

Feeds temporarily unavailable

We've experienced some downtime due to the PHPBB RSS plugin we are using. It killed our database. We're now upgrading to SQL Server and looking at a better way to provide RSS feeds from these forums.
It was bound to happen sooner or later, but unfortunately it was sooner!

For now, the forum feeds are disabled until later notice.

Peter.
